ANNUAL FLOWERS in TORONTO, CANADA

These flowering plants grew annually, they usually grow back in the spring time....They were located at the front yard, beautiful colors, although the weather had been chilly in Toronto, they're still blooming...

Fresh tomatoes, Italian basil, oregano, and green peppers

This morning I gathered these vegetables to make a pasta sauce, I understand that pasta sauce are very cheap at the store however, there is no better than your own homemade pasta sauce........addition to the above veggies, don't forget garlic, white onions, salt and pepper to taste...

ORGANIC ONIONS

I pulled these onions from the ground as they have been pulled out by either rabbits or squirrels, I am totally disappointed as they're not quite time to pull them out...anyhow, they're probably good to use and mix them with veggies....:-)

Organic Red Potatoes grew from a plastic basket container

I just pulled out my potato plants growing from a plastic basket container.  I had about 5 lbs. of red potatoes....the difference between organic and store bought is the color of the skin....homegrown potatoes are more lighter red than store bought potatoes....so you too can grow potatoes in a container...

POTTED CHERRY TOMATOES

I had been lucky to grow cherry tomatoes in a pot as everyone says that you cannot grow tomatoes in a pot or planter
...the image above are my potted cherry tomatoes ripening....taped up with masking tape to ensure they don't fall off, some of the branches been taped too in order not to break the branch.

CELEBRITY TOMATOES RIPENING IN THE VINE

A bit disappointed as my "celebrity tomatoes" are not ripening as of yet, last year in July I had been harvesting them but not this year.  The weather has not been cooperating, spring begun late and perhaps fall will begin early this year...these are my celebrity tomatoes ripening in the vine.  I will be taking my vacation soon, hopefully I will be harvesting some before I go for my holidays...so I can preserve some and make salsa or tomato sauce or marinara sauce.

ICHIBAN EGGPLANT

My one and only eggplant in my miniature garden is producing a lot of eggplants...which I think enough for me as my hubby does not eat these kind of vegetables...I would make an "eggplant torta" which is a Filipino dish (never had it for a long time)....a dish that you can make easily with eggs, garlic, and onions...salt and pepper to taste.  Roast the eggplants on a BBQ grill, take the skin off and stalk (head) of the eggplant, prepare your chop onions, and mince garlic, beat the eggs (I prefer egg whites only), sauté the garlic and onions with 2 tbsps. of olive oil, place the eggplants on top, cook for 2 minutes, (don't stir), then put the beaten eggs on top of the eggplants...

White Lilies

Finally my white lilies bloomed, I planted them about 2 years ago, they were given to me as a gift, they were in a pot.....once they've stopped blooming, I replanted them in my garden....they're blooming since they have been planted 2 years ago in fact, there are more lily plants sprouting out around this plant........perhaps next year there will be more blooms....:-)

Tomatoes and Eggplant

  • My one and only eggplant in the garden blooming lots of flowers and producing more eggplants.  We tried one eggplant, grilled in the BBQ cooker and it was delicious, succulent and tender.....there are more eggplants coming out.....yay!

These are my Italian basil (above image) cut some on top to use for my spaghetti sauce; cut up fresh oregano, onions, and garlic....no fresh tomatoes yet, soon they'll be grown, I will be making my own pasta sauce from fresh tomatoes...:-)
Tomatoes really getting bigger and soon I will make fresh pasta sauce and fresh salsa...:-) Or fried green tomatoes?  Or mix them with your salad.....
The above image are my sweet onions, some are red onions and some are white onions.  The red onions are not doing good on this kind of soil, I supposed it needed more manure....The image below is my sweet potato, I had about 3 planted, growing in a container.....hopefully by the end of the summer I will have some sweet potatoes...I love sweet potatoes!

My Mini Flower Garden, "Bed of Roses"

Gardening is my passion, I love to be outdoor in the summer time, I love to have a flower bed or garden and a vegetable garden.  I built my own mini garden in our backyard, which obviously you had seen some of the vegetables I planted.  Some were planted in containers the reason behind this was because I looked after the backyard last year, took out all the weeds, fertilized and conditioned the lawn and, I don't really want to ruin it.  My hard work paid off, the lawn in the backyard is as green as the front lawn...I wish I could make a bigger "garden bed".....these are my flowers I have been looking after since spring....
Red Roses
These are double impatient plants located in our deck.
Double white mini roses.

I LOVE GARDENING

What I have here for you are my vegetables that I had planted last month, some were planted in containers and some were on the ground....the ichiban eggplant is growing on the ground...the sweet potatoes are growing in a container.  The lettuce is on the ground too plus the green beans, sweet peas, some potatoes, and green onions...by the way I gathered some green onions the other day...I will also post the image in here....the image below are the sweet potatoes...

Green and Red Bell Peppers growing in containers

Due to not enough room in my mini garden, although I love to have a huge garden, I can only plant several vegetables in it so I decided to start growing some of these vegetables in containers.  Like I said, I had several blogs and pages that any kind of vegetables can grow in containers....I can't wait to see some red or green bell peppers, they're blooming and hopefully there will be peppers in them...Yay! The bottom image are my green/red peppers.
These are my green beans, blooming and there are some beans out already.  Yey!  I do not have many bean plants as some rabbits came in to devour themselves and ate at least 3 of my bean plants. There are only 2 left in my mini garden....

Pea Pods

Really excited to see my peas are blooming, perhaps in a week or so, I will be harvesting some fresh peas from the garden....here is an image that shows that my peas are coming out!

Sweet Potato Plant growing in a plastic container

I had seen so many ideas of planting veggies and fruits if you don't have enough space or garden.  I am trying to grow a sweet potato in a bin with straw bales, waited for many weeks, I am getting excited to see if this works or not.  Finally I can see some leaves sprouting and growing...here is my sweet potato growing in container.....

"Bed of Roses" mini garden

These are some of my roses in my mini "bed of roses" garden....I have different kinds of roses and colors...in here but I only picked these 2 colors....for the meantime....I love beautiful roses....my yard is full of roses...the south side and west side of the house is full of roses....hubby had planted some of them before I came into his world/life.....since I came to live with him, I am now in charge of looking after the yard and garden......:-)....isn't it supposed to be that way?  Women Rules!  LOL
The above roses are red in color....dark red.
And these were the tangerine or dark orange in color roses.....I like them the most as the color is so beautiful!

Sunny and bright......not in Omaha, Nebraska

These were my flowering plants I planted about 2 weeks ago.  They're coming out nicely but we need more sun in our neck of the woods.

Barrel of Petunias

These are barrels built in front of the house which is closed to the sidewalk, we have 2 of these and every year since I came,  I usually plant petunias in them, as they're more colorful and beautiful when blooming.  These are pink, red, white, and purple colors.
Below are roses located on the west side of the house.  They were also planted 2 years ago when I first came to Nebraska.

Hosta Plants

These Hosta plants were purchased when I first came to Nebraska, April 2011 and look at them now, growing like "crazy" :-) and addition to that some roses and lilies were bought as well at the same time.  Now I had been in Nebraska for two years, the feeling is like "home" ~ beautify my surroundings, re-upholster, and renovate some stuff that hasn't been touched for many years....
Picture below is what I called "Bed of Roses" different kinds of roses and several lilies were planted also.
