ICHIBAN EGGPLANT

My one and only eggplant in my miniature garden is producing a lot of eggplants...which I think enough for me as my hubby does not eat these kind of vegetables...I would make an "eggplant torta" which is a Filipino dish (never had it for a long time)....a dish that you can make easily with eggs, garlic, and onions...salt and pepper to taste.  Roast the eggplants on a BBQ grill, take the skin off and stalk (head) of the eggplant, prepare your chop onions, and mince garlic, beat the eggs (I prefer egg whites only), sauté the garlic and onions with 2 tbsps. of olive oil, place the eggplants on top, cook for 2 minutes, (don't stir), then put the beaten eggs on top of the eggplants...

Vegetable Gardening in Containers

If you do not have a yard or a backyard where you can plant vegetables, you can also use containers as your garden...I have no raised bed nor a yard where I can start planting what I love to grow, such as vegetables...I have a small, miniature garden which I built and this garden has everything from tomatoes, onions, potatoes, zucchini, eggplant, and cucumber.  These vegetables take a whole of space in my miniature garden....so I decided to try to grow some of the vegetables in containers....here are some of the veggies I have in containers....rather than using soil, I used straw bales as these straw once you water them, they stay moist and you don't need to water them everyday...
These are green peppers growing nicely in a container with straw bales....no soil other than the soil where it grew prior to planting them in a container.

Italian Oregano also growing in a container pot, it has a little bit of soil, I added coconut husk to keep the soil moist.

Italian Basil is also growing in a container pot mixture of soil and straw bales. Below image is my cherry tomatoes also growing in a container pot. And the last one at the bottom is sweet potato growing in a plastic container mostly straw bales....

Scrap Fabrics pieced together made into a pan holder

This pan holder is made of scrap fabrics from the quilt project I recently completed and finished, instead of throwing away those scrap materials, I pieced them together and made into a pan holder shown below.  Patience is sometimes needed to fuse and piece these scrap fabrics.......to form something useful....such as this image below.

Left over yarns ~ Crocheted Pot Holders

Pot holders can also be crocheted and they can also be sewn, by using some of my left over yarns, I made a daisy stitch crochet and simply add more double chain stitch, these were left over from my "daisy stitch crochet" which I posted before.  These were couple of excess daisy square I crocheted and the first 12 crocheted were made into a night table cover....image below were the triangle daisy stitch pot holders....

Split Square Quilt Spread

Happy Friday all!  I finally finished the "split square quilt spread" which I started two weeks ago...somehow I manage to find a material in my stash of fabrics....it is made of a broadcloth 1 yard red in color...previously I posted this "split square quilt spread" and showing you that it was put aside as I have no fabric to match with it, however I decided to use a thin broadcloth fabric to use as backing...here is the outcome of my "split square quilt spread", it is 28 1/2" X 36 1/2" in length.  Thanks for your visit!  :-)

Stripe it Your Way Quilt Spread

I have 1/4 yard of each fabric, 8 fabrics in stripes and solid colors.  Cut them in different shapes of triangles.......I used 8"X11" paper copy to draw the triangles made 5 triangles in different shapes.  There were 40 blocks,  5 of each triangle and each on 8 fabrics.
This "stripe it your way quilt spread" is specially made for a table that we usually used to play tiles ~ "mahjong" is a game that we played whenever we all get together i.e. sisters in Toronto, Canada.  Instead of using a bedspread to cover the table, thought about making something different to cover the "mahjong table".....this is still a project on the go as I have been thinking of the batting if I would use regular thin batting or just use a felt material so it won't be bulky......I pick and choose how the blocks are arranged.  Some are solids, others all stripes.....

Wire-wrapped Earrings

I had been neglecting to hasten my jewelry making lately, my focus was to gain more knowledge in wire-wrapping but because sewing is also a passion.......my jewelry making was put aside.  Last night I started to make couple of wire-wrapped earrings....and these were the outcome......

These pair of earrings were made of gold antique filled wire-wrapped with 2mm garnet beads and red agate beads.....

These were also wire-wrapped with bronze wires, made a 24 inches rounded in a mandrel, wire-wrapped again with bronze wires and attached a 12 mm cherry quartz bead...................

White Lilies

Finally my white lilies bloomed, I planted them about 2 years ago, they were given to me as a gift, they were in a pot.....once they've stopped blooming, I replanted them in my garden....they're blooming since they have been planted 2 years ago in fact, there are more lily plants sprouting out around this plant........perhaps next year there will be more blooms....:-)

Simple Quilted Potholder made from scrap fabrics.....

Tomatoes and Eggplant

  • My one and only eggplant in the garden blooming lots of flowers and producing more eggplants.  We tried one eggplant, grilled in the BBQ cooker and it was delicious, succulent and tender.....there are more eggplants coming out.....yay!

These are my Italian basil (above image) cut some on top to use for my spaghetti sauce; cut up fresh oregano, onions, and garlic....no fresh tomatoes yet, soon they'll be grown, I will be making my own pasta sauce from fresh tomatoes...:-)
Tomatoes really getting bigger and soon I will make fresh pasta sauce and fresh salsa...:-) Or fried green tomatoes?  Or mix them with your salad.....
The above image are my sweet onions, some are red onions and some are white onions.  The red onions are not doing good on this kind of soil, I supposed it needed more manure....The image below is my sweet potato, I had about 3 planted, growing in a container.....hopefully by the end of the summer I will have some sweet potatoes...I love sweet potatoes!

Simple 4"X4" granny squares

These granny squares can be utilized into anything, a purse or a handbag, a table cover, a spread or just simply make it a pillow cushion décor....
A 12"x12" simple granny square that I made recently used it as a table cover adding a décor to a white crocheted table cover......it adds a bit of life to a maple table........

These granny squares can be made into a table cover as well, just crochet and attach them together to make a cover, or make a handbag with lining inside.............

Daisy Granny Squares

I had been crocheting granny squares and collecting them to ensure that I had enough to make some projects...here are some of the daisy and simple granny squares that I had done lately.....
